Celebrating 60 years of women's entrepreneurship: AIDDA's milestone gala in Milan

Six decades is no small thing for an entrepreneurial body, especially in our frantic economy. For AIDDA, the Italian Association of Women Entrepreneurs and Business Executives, reaching this milestone and celebrating this anniversary with a gala dinner was an opportunity to honour a living archive of resilience, vision, and collective achievement.

Marking it with anything less than an exceptional evening was simply never an option.

A brief on an extraordinary client

Founded with the ambition of championing women in business at a time when that was considerably more radical than it sounds today, AIDDA has spent sixty years building a community of leaders. When the association approached us to plan their anniversary gala dinner in Milan, the brief was clear in spirit if demanding in execution: find a setting equal to the occasion, seat 100 guests in comfort, and create an atmosphere that genuinely honoured the association's legacy. No pressure, then.

Choosing the right stage

Milan is not short of remarkable spaces, which, if anything, makes finding the perfect one harder: the choice is so wide and the options so enticing that an inexperienced event planner might risk getting stuck. After careful consideration, the choice landed on a historic mansion in Milan in the San Babila district, one of the city's most distinguished quarters, synonymous with wealth, culture, elegance, and style. The building carries exactly the kind of character that you would want to see in a historic Italian palazzo: high ceilings, considered proportions, a sense of majesty and history, prestige. It became the ideal backdrop for an evening that was always going to be about legacy.

The event opened with a cocktail reception that gave guests time to reconnect, the room filling steadily with conversation and the low hum of genuine anticipation. From there, the evening moved into a gala dinner in Milan befitting an association of AIDDA's standing, with the president addressing attendees and framing the occasion in its proper significance.

The detail that makes the difference

Planning a gala of this kind involves considerably more than booking a room and confirming the guest list. Much of the evening's success rested on the seamless integration of client-provided suppliers alongside the wider event infrastructure. The wine selection was curated with care, the floral arrangements were composed to complement the architecture without overwhelming it, and a saxophonist provided a musical thread throughout the evening that kept the atmosphere warm and yet light-hearted. Every element was carefully planned and considered.

Coordinating these moving parts requires both outstanding logistical competence and the kind of calm, adaptive judgement that allows a planner to foresee and therefore avoid snags in the road. The client noted afterwards that the planning process was marked by genuine flexibility and a willingness to find solutions, qualities that matter enormously when the stakes are high and timelines are tight.

The verdict from the room

The response was, by any measure, exceptional. Guests approached both the venue's owners and AIDDA's president during the evening to express how much the event had impressed them, with several describing it as among the finest gatherings in the association's history. That is the kind of praise that does not come from a venue alone, or from good food alone, or from a well-chosen saxophonist alone. It comes from the accumulation of decisions, large and small, all pointing in the same direction.

For an association that has spent sixty years advocating for excellence in business, it seemed only fitting that the celebration should meet that same standard. The evening closed not as an ending, but as a statement of intent: for AIDDA, and for the work that made it possible.
